What is the best factory .308 ammo out there that is factory loaded.

I know this is a broad question, but I would like to see what people are liking in the round.

as opposed to getting feathers ruffled by being so vague, simply tell the grain, manufacturer, and game used for, and what you think.

Gophers to grizzlys.

Also. If you shoot a .308, give me some feedback on your like dislike
of this rifle calibre

Thanks

I always recommend the 165 grainn bullet in a .308, whatever the maufacture.
Drawbacks??
Didn't kow there were any!!:D :D
Some will say it is "too light forr this or too heavy for that".
Forgetaboutit!
If that is what you hhave , it is perfect, and NOT too light for moose, either!

I had good luck with the Federal Premium "Gold topped box" in 180's.
This cal will do whatever most hunters can. Don't be put off by the .308 dissers. Moose, blackies, deer. Have fun with it.

Winchester Fail Safe 168 grain used on both deer and moose. No dislikes at all, have it chambered in a pump, semi, lever and bolt. Great round!!

Too bad the failsafe is being discontinued, and replaced buy a 150gr. elite XP3.

I use Federal premium loads, anywhere from 150 to 180 gr. Very accurate for factory ammo in my rifles. I'm looking forward to trying their new 165gr TSX load.

go down to your local Cdn Tire, Walmart and sporting goods store and try a few boxes of whatever you can find.

I have had good luck with Fed Classic and win grey box in 150 and 165gr. However, so much depends on the rifle so what shoots well in one rifle could be horrid in another.

Best if you can start thinking about reloading as soon as possible. Will save more and shoot much better ammo. It really isn't that expensive (lee anniversary set up with deluxe collet die set- $200 or less).

I would suggest 155gr or 168gr Amax well priced great shooting overall bullet that is available just about anywhere (certainly at wholesale and Russells, Higginson powder). 155gr or 168gr Nosler J4 is usually a bit cheaper if bought in 250bullet boxes. 155gr Lapua is the king of mid weight 308's but not always easy to find (Hirsch Precision on this board).

Win brass fireformed then neck sized (Lee collet die), CCI BR2 primers, Varget and you will have amazing results.

The most accurate rifle in the world fed ammo it does not like will shoot like crap.
