me, I am waiting for my Sako 338 federal to show up, I will need to buy a scope for it, and I am waiting for 2 mcmillans to show up from the US in April for my two 260's. Also just ordered a few Gretan lite firing pin/springs/shrouds for my three Rem 700s.

what do you got on the go? new gun? new ammo? selling some? trading some?
 
The best gun for bear defense would be a 45/70 gov't, handloaded a hotter then the factory stuff, in a marlin guide gun.

Any bites on the line?

Humming and hawwing on M&P 9mm, as rebate is extended can hum and haw for a while.

Idea for a vertical gun case, three Cooeys on top of each like a typical rack but one side closed and sliding panel on other side to take to range (groove on verticals on non-opening side so can set panel in there when open).

Need scopes & rings for one or two Cooeys.

Bench rest - will wait till friend with welder is available as the ones CGNers build far more interesting than my idea to build one out of wood (though the tactical one made from I beam was impressive too - still laughing about it).

(expendable parts) Cooey to post and bed. If it goes okay then may try same with CZ 452 & Remy 700.

Build a box for my garbage cans to keep racoons from self serve (tomorrow). HOORAY, This one is now done.

Of course working 1FT & 1PT job & school so will likely all wait till summer.

And in the spirit of this thread
* how do you convert your 9mm from metric to standard for when you go to the US?
* what would be the best load for my CZ 452 for walrus?
* what is the effect of different size snow flakes on bullet drop? (hey have to include the interior provinces & territories in the discussion too).

currently in the process of buying a 223 that can be tricked out some. Lots of research to do and lots of stuff to mull over. thanks for keeping this simple. Brain gets burned out on the complicated stuff all the time.
 
Can anyone tell me if my Tikka in .308 is powerful enough to kill a deer at 800 yards while it's running behind a group of tree's with a Prerigrin falcon sitting on it's back? :evil:

I don't really have any projects on the go right now. But I have been giving some thought to putting together my own semi custom in a .257 somthing. Or maybe just picking up a Mark V in .257 Weatherby. That would be a fun rifle too.
 
Hoping to pick up a Tikka T3 Lite Stainless in 9.3x62. Should be perfect when I finally get to hunt water buffalo in the Northern Territory and meanwhile will be good for deer and medium game like goats and pigs. I have the money but it's dependent on something else. The dependent factor is the resto job on my '67 VW Kombi (the Aussie name for VW Buses & hence my username). I'm praying a whole heap it comes in within budget which it should. It has to be done for Easter so the Tikka should be ordered around then all things being equal.

I also have the K98 sporter in 8x57 I've had for a while. It's powdercoated black, has a forged and bent bolt handle, is drilled and tapped with Leupold mounts & rings & a Tasco MAG IV 3-12x40AO, and I picked up a Choate sporting stock for it about 12 months back. All it needs is to be bedded properly and I have the Brownells Acraglas compound but not having done it before I don't what to bugger it up. Once it's done I have some Sierra 175gr Spitzers and Woodleigh 250gr RNSNs to get loaded. It should also be a good deer and medium game rifle and with the Woodleigh 250 grainers I'd probably give it to a buff given the opportunity. If anyone on here is from Oz, lives near Canberra and is experienced at bedding jobs I'd really appreciate the help. Hell, I even have a Timney trigger for it so it's really close to finished but frustratingly far away.

I have a pair of Martini actions that will be future projects. One is a large frame Martini Enfield that may or may not be rechambered to 303 or may become something much bigger like 38-55, 45-90 or something like that. The other is a Cadet and will prob'ly be rebarreled using an octagonal bbl from an incomplete Pieper Belgian Martini Rook Rifle in 32-20. I also have a 1903/38 Turkish Mauser "K" action that would make a good 6.5x55 or 7x57 but everything costs money, right? :(

Aside of that there are the little things I'd like or need:
  • a case tumbler,
  • more 75gr and 35gr VMaxs for my 25-20 & 22 Hornet Cadets respectively,
  • a better, more powerful scope and higher mounts for the Hornet,
  • a gunsmith who can suss out the reason why the bolt on my Carcano M91/38 is too tight and fix it so it will chamber and extract rounds and not cost me too much.
See, not much, eh?:p
 
Nothing special going on here other than waiting for a 700 action to come home with a new stainless bbl in 375/338 (it's the peon of 375s). Will be getting it into a B&C fiberglass stock with a VXIII 1.75x6. I may get the bbl cut back to 22" and have the receiver bead blasted to a matte finish. Like I said, nothing special.

Other personal projects include going to Calgary for a month in April to do a Radiography Level I&II and writing the CGSB at SAIT. That's going to gobble up about $15K up front, but will be reimbursed some from the union education fund upon successful competition of the ticket. Pretty much puts all the fun stuff at a standstill till later, but will realize about an $8/hr raise for the effort.
 
I have a few rifles to find good loads for. Some of them have been in my safe for nearly a year without even one shot out of them. Waiting for my Bushnell 4200 tactical scope to come in and also my Sako Quad in a 22 WMR. Hoping to finish my shooting range and my shooting bench...
 
Just got my Greener Martini 6.5/303 imp back from tool and die buddy - he took the trigger down to about 1.5lbs. on that old Greener action - it's gonna be awesome!!

Just ordered another utility gun. also.

It is boring for most people, but I back ordered a T3 Stainless in 308 which will arrive sometime this month - taking advantage of the $100 price reduction!

I have a VXIII 2.5-8X (B&C) waiting for the T3.

Pretty boreing stuff here. Going to change scopes on my 338, have a new 3x9 with the LR reticle. Also going to redo the load, I shoot 250 Noslers but have some 225 TSXs for it. Its throated for 250s to the base of the neck so it only like long bullets. Just bought a stainless Classic 375, I've got an appointment to chop the barrel and add a stainless barrel band that I have. Then start shooting it. I sold my first 378 so now have replaced it. First time out with it the groups were very average. Started cleaning it after shooting and found the worst case of copper fouling I've ever seen. Took 5 hours over 2 sessions to get to bare metal. Have some 270 TSXs for that one, hope the cleaning helped. Lots of shooting to do this spring.
 
It's been -40 here for a week already. All I've been trying to do is get up the nerve to go tackle the man-cave. It needs a good cleaning and I need to get rid of a bunch of stuff. Watch for an upcoming sale in the EE.

I have managed a bit of reloading this winter. I now have 4 loaded rounds ready for nice weather.;)
 
The two rifles I would like to have(need) this year are the .308 Marlin Express and the .375 Ruger. Other than that I'm going to refinish an old Savage 99 and try my hand at a custom camo paint job on my new Stevens 200.:cheers:
 
Got a few new to me rifles to take to the range. Husqvarna lightweight in
7x57, a model 7 stainless 308, and a stainless model 70 in 270 winchester. The winchester will get some modifications done to it, assuming it shoots well, and become my main deer rifle. Probably a McMillan Edge and some barrel slimming as time goes by.
Waiting to see what changes we get to the open seasons for this fall, and whether the LEH gods cough up some tags before firming up this fall's trip(s).
