What's available in Canada for 30mm mounts that give the option of mounting a piggyback optic? Either with picatinny or via direct mounting Aimpoint micro pattern screws? The Burris PEPR mount is the only thing I have seen, but I was hoping to find something a little lighter weight.

I have a 30mm Badger Unimount with a pic rail ring cap on it. Wolverine can order them in for you or you can get one through Brownells.

Did the ring cap mount come with the bottom ring in case you just want to mount one directly to a scope tube? And will Brownells ship scope mounts to Canada? I thought it was only items under $100.

The ring cap doesn't come with a bottom ring. I think Burris might make one like that though? With Brownells over $100 you have to fill in some form. It's not a big deal.

Nightforce also have a couple of different top ring half's with Pic rails on them. ht tps://www.nightforceoptics.com/riflescopes/accessories/top-half-ring-accessories

Some food for thought, I’d go with an offset mount instead of a piggyback. Something like this

Piggy back mount dramatically increases your height over bore So your holdovers with change exponentially faster than with an optic that is more in line. Not to mention losing your cheek weld, which is a dealbreaker for me personally.

Every man to their own.

Offset mounts are a good option too. I think it comes down to personal preference though. You can train to pick up the dot quite fast in a piggyback position but you're right that you lose your cheek weld and end up with a ####ty chin weld. I wouldn't worry much about your holdovers changing since it is your secondary optic so I couldn't see using it past 100 anyways. I always zero the red dot at 50 yards. Like you said, to each their own.
