30mm rings a good choice?

I have been thinking about whether to go with 30mm rings for a mount setup for eventual use on my M14.

What I have been wondering is how limiting the 30mm size is when it comes to scope selection. Are there many scopes out there in the 30mm size yet?

I would recommend that you select the scope first then lean ahead on the rings. 30mm rings are great when you have a 30mm scope....most 30mm are European and expensive.....I love them myself but if you are on a budget....1 inch rings would be better....but figure out what scope first. Kind of like selecting the tires of a new car before you have decided on the car......

Sounds right to me...I was looking at a mount and 30mm rings for sale and trying to decide :redface:

I'll start wih the mount. I have a couple of 1" Leupold scopes I could use until I figure out what I really want.
