I just shot the CQB match with a 30 + year old steel tube Weaver K2.5 with a post reticle on my Norc M4gery. The post seemed to be faster to locate on the fig. 11 target.

But the eye had to be positioned just right to be able to see. Is there a 30mm scope in the 2.5 to 3X range that has a post reticle (other than the Elcan)?

The older Falcon menace had a reticule like that. Hungry has post about that scope on this forum. Sorry can't search it for you right now. Gotta run.

You may be able to find one on EE or ask some of the current retailers (Frontier Arms?) to see of they have any old stock.

Of course based on your latest performance, I am a bit of an idiot to help you out :)

Do you guys shoot further than 35m in your carbine matches?
I'd say 3 power is overkill for that shoot...but whatever floats your boat.

Have you tried an ACOG? There are models that are in the 1.5x and 2x power range that are well suited to that role.

I have used 4X and it is too much for sure.

2.5X allows me to see where my hits are. I have to aim low at 30yd and aim high at close range. Some magnification allows me to see the holes and correct if needed.

My eyes are not good. I wear shooting glasses set to give me a focus of the pistol front sight. This makes the rifle sight picture fuzzy unless it is a scope that is focussed to correct my shooting glasses, so i can see the target.

My old Weaver works, but I would prefer a bigger window to look through. But so far I have not found a 30mm with a real post reicle. Maybe I will dig out an Elcan.

I actually shoot the 35 m snap and rapid on 5X. Not sure if it helps though :)

I would say that is a hindrance.
At higher magnification, shooters tend to want to aim more precisely. You end up hunting on the target when you should be sending rounds.
Try dialing it down or switch out to irons for your next match.

A compensator/brake will do wonders for shooters trying to settle the gun for the second or subsequent shots - especially in a timed event such as this.

Are you looking for a fixed power scope or is a variable ok? The Trijicon TR24 is available with a post and illuminated pointed on the top. I have found it really fast on the close targets, and the price is pretty decent too.
