This is only somewhat relevant, but I have loaded the NOE 247 gr "Whisper" in 7.62X39. 4.0 grs of Red Dot gave a consistent 725 fps out of a Baikal Single Shot. Quiet, low recoil and quite accurate within 50 yds. I've tried the very light (and thus short) bullets in the 7.62X39 and 303 Brit and found them inaccurate, inconsistent, and prone to hangfires. They have a long way to go before they engage with the rifling, and in many cases have completely exited the neck before they engage the rifling and this induces a rapid pressure drop, hence the hangfires, particularly with powders much slower than Unique.
I've fired hundreds of loads of 5 gr. 700X under a 93 gr. LEE WW in a 30-30. Also fired same load in a surplus 7.62x39 case. I've used the same basic load in several other cartridges as well. Mind, I am not shooting charging elephants at 400 yds!
The only real problem I had with a 94 using that little bullet was if I tried to work the action too fast, the cartridge would flip up too high at the bullet end. The world won't come to an end if I have to slow down levering another round in.
