Hey gang. I'm looking to reload some .32-20 (32WCF) rounds. I have all of the dies, plenty of brass and even some Federal Champion 205 small rifle primers. What I don't have is powder and bullets. Can anyone out there recommend a bullet/powder combination that works for them. This old family gem of mine (Marlin 1894) is only going to be doing some basic "plinking" and perhaps some small game stuff.

I'm getting ready to head out the door to head to Cabelas and Wholesale Sports to pick up some other stuff. A quick repsonse would be handy. This is sort of a "spur of the moment" shopping trip.

I had a Colt Lightning pump and so kept the pressures real low. I used 9 grs of 2400 or 4.5 grs of Unique with a 100 gr lead bullet.

In the Marlin rifle (if it is in good shape) you can go up to 6 grs of Unique, 11.5 grs of 2400 or 15 grs of IMR-4227 with a 100 gr bullet.

I only ever shot 100 gr lead .313 sized (non-gas-checked) bullets in my handloads.

I was able to shoot .32 ACP cartridges in my Colt with some accuracy so if you can't find any proper lead bullets maybe you could find some .32 ACP jacketed bullets and give them a try.

Would you keep the powder charges the same for the 32 ACP jacketed bullets?

The .32 ACP bullets only weigh 71 grs so you could probably even up the powder charge a bit.

If you could find bullets for the .32 S&W Long (98 grs)or even the .32 H&R Magnum (90-95) grs you could use them too.

Thanks a bunch for your assistance Goldenlakepete. In the end I found some that are real close to what I was after. Andrew over at reloaders.ca had 700pcs of Hornady 32 cal. .312" 85gr HP XTP. I bought 300pcs for now just to give them a go. They'll probably last a while as I don't shoot this rifle much. These Hornady's are a little "fancier" than I was looking for but they'll work for what I want to do. Which is just have some good old fashioned fun!

I played a bit with cast bullets in a Husqvarna Model 25 Single Shot in 32-20. The lengths might be too long to feed in your Marlin:

90 gr - 1.650" OAL - 14.0 grs of H4227 (full case) - 1800 fps
125 gr - 1.725" OAL - 13.0 grs of H4227 (full case) - 1625 fps
157 gr - 1.875" OAL - 10.0 grs of H4227 - 1315 fps
180 gr - 1.725" OAL - 8.0 grs of H4227 - 1000 fps
