so can you hunt small game with .32 , .38 rimfire here in ontario

ive never looked into it

center fire limit is .275" but nothing about the bigger rimfire rifles

"A person hunting small game may not carry or use a rifle of greater calibre than a .275-calibre rifle." Nothing about CF or RF. And it only applies to specific municipalities. It doesn't apply to muzzle loaders.
It's moot anyway as .32 and .38 RF ammo isn't readily available.

no but you can buy the reloadable cases for them :)

I think what he is getting at is the .32 and .38 RF in pistol form. The antiques are NR firearms and could legally be carried around in the bush as per the Firearms Act. One of the CRR guys got one

I have shot several rimfires and all of them are relatively anemic using home made shells and black powder. Even the factory shells are not overly powerful. I recognize that at least some people shot deer with them in the good old days but I strongly suspect at close range and brain shots. Of the various choices, 32 rimfire may be the most useful from the point of view of ease of firing. Some guns have wide enough firing pins that you can shoot home made shells primed with Hilti shells centered in the cartridge. The larger calibers rely on the primer being off center and in line with the firing pin or blade.
