32-40, hard to find?

The 32-40 uses a .321 dia bullet and the 32 Spec uses a .322 dia. ....perhaps the bullet barn has what you need. This same question has been on here many times the last few months. Perhaps for the same gun.....

factory ammo is available, but I hate to part with it. :D
a buddy of mine just sent me some of his .321 cast bullets for my 32-40...
If the fella in need is a good bud of the dr,PM me an I'll see if I can scare up some more.

my old Lyman book has data for 2 Lyman Moulds for the 32-40 321317 164g GC and a 321297 184g GC bullet using Unique, 2400, and IMR 4227 let me know if you need more info
dia is .321 and if you load for the 30-30 you all ready have the shell holder

The .32-40 with one commemmorative edition exception, has NOT been manufactured since 1940 in the United States. Bullets are easy to find from the Bullet Barn, finding dies are no problem but there is a lack of brass in North America lately.

December issue of Handloader magazine has write up in there... As well as the old time rifles that used it. Definitely have the bore measured as they explain some of the neat things they did with a shot out 32 bore as well....... Would make for a good read.

For what it's worth my first Woodchuck rifle was a Model 94 with a 26" barrel - the rifleing in the end of the barrel was quite worn, I suppose from cleaning - I cut 4" off the end, recut the sight dovetail with a file and shot many a Woodchuck way out there - I used to bring a friend and they would use Binoculars to tell me when the Woodchuck was sitting up - I would then pull the trigger, the Woodchuck would just slump over and I have bullets recovered from the dirt behind the Woodchuck - that's when you could drive the back roads and shoot "Chucks" - I still have some original CIL .32-40 Bullets and a handful of brass that I keep for old time sake - almost forgot, I have a Reamer that I've used to rechamber .32-40's to .32 WS, .32 WS were worth more money then -

I bought some from the Bullet barn, they make one for the 32-40 however in my gun they did not shoot at all. I am sure there was nothing wrong with there product I think it was a matter of my bore being loose and their bullets maybe a little to hard .
I am going to try using an 8MM mould that should drop them about.324 I slugged my bore and it was .322. My hope is with softer bullets and the slightly bigger bullet I will get a good fit and accuracy will improve.

If cast bullets are what you are looking for, email Ben Hunchak as I suspect that he casts in that caliber. Be sure to slug the bore; I have two 32-40s. The one with a modern barrel uses .321 slugs but the other has a bore that is roughly .007 oversize and I have to use very soft bullets in it.
As others have said, make your shells out of annealed 30-30 cases
