Picked up a Walther PPK right after they announced the gun law changes this spring. It was on my bucket list being a Bond fan. This was my first 32 Auto/ACP. Really enjoyed shooting it and decided to pick up a few more pistols in 32 Auto before they shut down the pistol market. I’ve always liked firearms manufactured in the 50’s-70’s.

These pistols are 12.6 and I found it was easier and not much more expensive purchasing a second pistol instead trying to find spare mags and worrying about spare parts down the road. I have around the same invested in my Wilson Combat/Beretta 92G as I do in these 10 pistols combined.

Wish I would have got them a few years ago when ammo was cheap and plentiful for them. I did pick up 1,500 rounds and a set of dies. Once I have fired the rounds, will have lots of brass to reload and keep me going for a while…

Hoping recent laws are repealed along with 12.6 so more people could enjoy pistols like these. I certainly enjoy shooting them.

From the left: Walther PPK, Walther PP, Beretta 70, Star IR, CZ 70 VZOR & Davis Derringer.

I have an old Savage in 32 acp. 10 round magazine, it's nice. The sights are barely noticeable, but it's a point and shoot pocket pistol. Plenty accurate for what it is.

Why did you wait to the last minute?

Prior to the ban announcement, I was happy with my 22 Lr. and 9mm pistols. Once announced, got me thinking what will I want / regret not having when I have more time to go to the range. I’m in my late 40’s and hope to have many years left to enjoy them.

PPK was the first one that came to mind being a Bond fan. Found a PPK in 32 ACP and once I tried it out, loved the calibre and kept an eye out for more 32’s. As what I felt were bargains appeared, I added more and more… Roughly four months later, I own the pistols in the pictures. I am lucky to live in NB as transfers only took around 3 weeks and got a chance to try out, see that I like them and keep on adding before the ban.

I like having 3+ magazines for any pistol I own. I found it harder to source magazines for the old 32’s. The few magazines I could find were around $75+ with shipping. I preferred to pay an average of $300 for a second pistol with 2 mags instead of buying magazines. This is the main reason the 32 collection grew quickly and very happy with my choices. While restricted pistol prices skyrocketed, the 12.6 seemed to be on a fire sale which helped me accumulate.

I just found out about the trick to get a nice print out of all my registered pistols. RCMP website, select Request a ATT, click on any listed reason and then it shows you a list of everything, organized in alphabetical order. Hit print and then cancel the request.

The list said I had 4 Mauser HSc. That did not look right, so I dumped all the 32s on the desk. I file my handguns by caliber. Sure enough, I have 4 of them.

The nicest 32 to shoot is the Walther PP. A close second are the Beretta 1934s. The PPKs are surprisingly accurate, but a bit snappy in the hand.
