dangertree:
Just an observation, and I guess would only apply to my part of the U.S. (Georgia), but it seems the vast majority of "gangbangers" know little to nothing about firearms when it comes to caliber, quality or any of the aspects that you and I, and almost every other gun "person" in the world might consider important.
It seems, just from watching the news on TV, and reading reports in print that the majority of gangbangers use whatever they can buy, steal, or otherwise acquire (illegally) on the streets.. Cheap seems to be the operative word, and 9mm the round of choice..
You read a lot about druggies involved in shootouts, being shot many times and surviving, but I think a lot of that "survival" is because the folks doing the shooting don't seem to practice a lot, or learn how to operate the weapon with any skill and don't have a clue (and this is a good thing) about the difference in quality self defense jhp rounds and the generic cheaper "ball" or fmj round.
I don't think many of them read as a hobby, so doubt any will come over here to CGN and find that difference out.
I believe the majority of folks (myself included) buying and carrying concealed the smaller caliber firearms (32/380) are just regular folks who feel the need of being armed when they are away from their home "comfort" area.
I have been cc legally since 1966 (yep, I'm older than old dirt) and blessedly never even had to display my cc firearm. Hope I never do. But I never leave the house without my LWS32 in my back pocket, and there are times and circumstances when I also carry in an iwb holster my Walther PPS (or now, P7).
The best things about the Seecamp LWS32 (or LWS380) is that they absolutely disappear in the pocket, are very light, have a reputation for excellent reliability, and can go almost anyplace.
I don't think in Canada being able to legally carry concealed a "mousegun" has the same importance as here in the U.S. I've never been to Canada, but my understanding is you folks have no where the crime/violence problem we have here. Hey, and I'm happy for you.
But, the situation being what it is, it gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling knowing that should the unthinkable occur I have a weapon on me to hopefully at least try and defend myself with.
Truth be told in my part of America if you use common sense you can avoid the great majority of potential for being involved in a crime..
Don't do drugs, and obviously keep your butt out of those parts of town. (And it's well known what parts of town that would be.) I know when my wife and I are traveling in in unknown territory I have our vehicles trained that anytime we get lost in an area and come up on a sign referencing MLK anything our car automatically makes a one-eighty.. Call it profiling/predjudice, whatever. I call it decades of experience and common sense..
If you need bread and milk at 2:00AM, you really don't need bread or milk, and you don't need to go to the local "stop n' rob" fast food store to buy it. Wait until tomorrow morning.
Keep your head out of your rectum and always try and be situationally aware.. Look around and watch what's going on around you.
Did I mention, don't do drugs?
Sorry to ramble,
Best Wishes,
Jesse
