So I am doing my usual Saturday runaround chores when my buddy calls me up and says "we found a gun when we were cleaning out mom's stuff from her apartment after she moved, what should we do?" First I said "don't touch it! I'll come over and make it safe." The situation was this, his mother's boyfriend who was an American had passed away some time ago and did not tell anyone about this gun. Once over there, they show me the old camera bag the revolver was sitting inside. A .32 S&W Iver Johnson and Cycle works break open revolver. Prohibited weapon (sigh), I called the local police and informed them of the gun. Two officers showed up 10min. later took down a report and took the firearm with them. The older officer told me in a couple of months they would send the gun along with other weapons for destruction. I openly weeped when I heard this and left the room.;).

I think that about the best case senario in this case would be to get it back and decommissioned. I doubt that there is any other way that it could be spared from the crusher.

Sad state of affairs indeed.
