32 H&R rifle?

For a long time I've wanted something that I could reload and get velocities and noise levels similar to 22lr, I wanted something that I could shoot cast boolits and I also wanted to be able to scope it, preferable a single shot. I have a G2 contender, so I'm thinking I will order a 32H&R MGM barrel. At this point I'm just looking for opinions, what do you guys think? I was first thinking about 32 S&W long, but the H&R is stronger brass, 32-20 would be ok, but more "zip" than I need and don't want to download plus, can't use carbide dies. I want to shoot 90 to 120gr cast between 900 and 1400fps. Any input would be appreciated.

I'm also with you 100%. You're on the right track, I think the G2 would be a great platform. I kick myself for not buying one of the original marlin '94's in 32H&R. One of the many stupid things I've done/not done.

These days with the price of .22lr I'll bet you'd be loading 32H&R for less $ than the rimfire. The H&R or .327Federal make more sense than the 32-20 as you mention because of the use of carbide dies.

I to would like to load for 32H&R, where do you plan on getting the 90-120 Gr. cast bullets?
 
I could load the 32-20 down, but would rather not, I want a rifle/cartridge dedicated to that approximate velocity/noise level. I could download a 30-30 also, but kind of defeats the purpose. As far as the cast, I would like to start casting my own, my shooting buddy has been casting for years and is a good source of wisdom. Until then, Bullet Barn sells a couple of different .312 cast bullets, 81gr and 96gr I think. I've used the 96 before, nice boolits. I would like to play around with something a little heavier, maybe 115gr at about 1100 or 1200 fps might be fun?
 
Martini would be nice, but more money than I want to invest right now. My dream rifle would be a low wall. I wish I knew someone to built one on an H&R action, but can't seem to find anyone. I already have the G2, it's probably the easiest route to go.

Talk to hoytcannon. He had/has a bunch of custom H&R's - probably can point you in the right direction.

This.^ One can get a new Henry that shoots the .327 Federal & they be nice rifles.

Yeah if I see one of them Henry's in 32H&R and don't buy it y'all will have to check me into the psych ward. Be about the perfect rifle for wandering the woods potting rabbit, varmint and plinking.
 
There's so much S&W Long brass floating around, due to very few Bulleye shooters no longer in the sport!
I would love a single shot little bolt gun so I could shoot all 3 different rounds, be great plinker or shooting bench rest 50yard :)
Tryed to get a Marlin 94 when they were building them, but distributer couldn't buy just one, needed to buy 7 or more, too bad, great little gun! Glad Henry is being so unique in there offering, great company and product in the new cheap plastic guns most gun Co. Make today!!!

I have one of those Marlin 1894 cowboy guns in 32 H&R mag chambering & it is heavy compared to their bigger pistol cartridge brother rifles. If the new Henry is as heavy as the others they make, it won't interest me.

About 3 or 4 months ago while I was on the Savage website there was a section where you could make suggestions about what you might like to see them make. I mentioned a new chambering in 327 Federal/32 H&R mag on the Mk-II action.They did send me a confirmation back they would forward it to their decision makers for consideration.

Who knows, but it would be a lighter weight for hunting & we could reload for it which is the big advantage!
I'm crossing my fingers for one in stainless! Call it the Model FSS Mag.:)
 
Yes, I have really struggled trying to decide between 32S&W long and 32H&R, but I finally decided on the H&R. My goal is to match 22lr velocities with 90gr to 120gr bullets and I think the H&R will be the best for this, guess I'll find out. It's going to be a couple months before I get it. Haven't officially ordered it yet. I've talked to match grade a few times and Ron at Nine35 and now need to send him the official request. The dies and brass will be here next week so I can start setting them up.
