32 H&R rifle?

Sounds like an interesting build. I really covet my 1912 BSA Australian 310 Cadet. Mine chambers and fires 32-20 perfectly. The brass fireforms into dimensions very close to 32 H&R mag, only real difference is the rim. I can load up to exceed 2000 fps, or down to mouse farts. I can also use the mouse fart loads (800-900 fps) in my Swiss model 1882 revolver. IMR 4227, 15-17 grains, under 110 gr SWC w/ gas check cast bullets are very capable and accurate out of my BSA. If you get into reloading, contact jethunter... he can make you a batch of bullets to match your bore diameter. Looking forward to your build. As mentioned above, you can also use 32 S&W Long, which is not hard to find, and is an inherently accurate cartridge.
 
As an aside, it's really too bad that 327 federal didn't take off... impressive ballistics. If I ever re-barrel my BSA Cadet, or buy another Cadet to re-barrel, it will be in this impressive and potent little cartridge. Of course, you can also chamber and fire 32 H&R mag and 32 S&W Long. :)
 
Hey Kurgan, I shoot an old Husqvarna 32-20, really like that rifle, the only problem is my old eyes are struggling with the sights and I don't want to alter the rifle in any way. That's why I decided to go with the H&R in my G2, modern rifle, modern cartridge, but still kind of has that old school feel, if you know what I mean. My dies and brass got here today, I also got 500 96gr boolits from the Bullet Barn, we'll see if they work in it. I'd like to try something a little heavier, 115 or 120 gr. Not sure where to find some. Jethunter?
 
I hear ya! It's gonna be a long wait. But this is something I've been thinking about for a while, so it won't kill me to wait a few more months. Still not sure whether I should have gone 32 H&R or just good old 32 S&W? I think the S&W probably would have achieved my 900 to 1400fps goal and maybe with a few less decibels than the H&R, but the H&R will have a little more horsepower if needed.
 
32-20 can be loaded hot or loaded down... anything between 700 and 2000 fps. No problem. 32-20 brass is widely available, and in fact, there's a guy on here that I just bought 500 pieces from... and I got it within a week. The advantage to the 32 H&R chambering is that you can feed it 32 S&W Long and the brass itself is stronger. 32-20 brass is pretty thin and I tend to loose 1 or 2 pieces every time I reload. Just for the record, there's no way on God's green earth you can achieve 1400 fps with 32 S&W Long, it just doesn't have the case capacity. Go with 32 H&R magnum or 32-20. You can't go wrong either way.

I love those old Husqvarna 32-20 rifles. Weimajack had a real beauty for sale not too long ago. I passed on it simply because my BSA Australian 310 Cadet serves my purpose very well, and I downsized to 10 rifles and 1 locker.
