.32 rimfire

Remington derringers have three types of markings. One type is pre-98, the second spans the date, the third is modern.

Paatz - the 12-6 status prohibition refers to .25 and .32 caliber cartridges. Does not distinguish between rimfire and centerfire.

I brought in some french reloadable 32 rimfire. that i would be willing to part with, and a couple of guns.

HC collections is the site the brass and bullets is abit expensive when you convert it over i think with some brass bullets and the kit it was like 500 bucks...

The .41 RF is under 500fps,, any Remington O/U Rf is antique,, I've got one, a .25 Stevens long RF, antique.

that made next to no sense at all if its post 1898 its not antique its prohibited as it takes a cartridge sub 500 fps or not does not matter

also remember sub 500 is only for air guns and there is also a max foot pounds of energy witch is 4.2 even with .41 short rimfire being around 425fps its still got around 50 foot pounds of energy

No-one has explicitly stated it in this thread, but elsewhere others have mistakenly suggested that 25 ACP and 32 ACP ammunition is prohibited because it is traditionally only used in handguns. Not true - it's handguns chambered in 25 cal and 32 cal that are prohibited, unless they're an antique.

You also see people suggest that a firearm is an antique if ammunition for it is no longer commercially available - not true either.

I've been wrong before, but, my guns were bought at Bud Haynes auctions as antiques, the #1 verifier in Canada! Could you please provide me with a FRT# for a Remington U/O rim fire?? Perhaps I should hide them away?? The energy "witch" a .41 RF comes up with,,is debatable, useless,,

Couldn't find any FRT reference to a .25 RF Remington O/U derringer. You have one?

As far as the .41 RF O/Us go, there are a number of variations.

Model 1 62182-1 Antique.
Model 2 62186-4 Antique.
Model 3 62185-1 Prohibited.
62185-3 Antique.
129090-1 Prohibited.
129089-1 Antique.

The double action Remington-Elliot is
24784 -1 Prohibited (.22 LR)
-2 Antique (.32 RF)

The O/U was made from 1867 until, IIRC, 1932.
Pre 1898, .41 RF antique; post 1897, .41 RF, prohibited.
The power level of the .41 RF is irrelevant.

I would suggest you check the "antique" .41 OUs that you own that you think are antique. You might be sitting on unregistered prohibs. Based on what you've said, Bud Haynes might be the No. 1 verifier in Canada! (! -really?). No. 1 from which end of the list?

8 Ball im slooooowly catching up to you lol..... 32/38/41

There were reports that some of that Navy Arms .41 ammunition was a bit too snappy for some Remington O/Us, and cracked hinges were reported.

My antique Remington over under derringer or colt thuer arnt for shooting. They are for looking pretty lol. I have OCD when it comes to having a box of ammo for every caliber of gun I own.

i dont have access to FRT numbers sorry

the .41 short rimfire used a 130 bullet that going 425fps is around 52 ft lb there is no dabating it thats what it comes to in the math

yeah id just get the reloadable cases

i would not shoot any older rimfire ammo though navy arms ammo maybe but the old canadian made and others id keep its not common and for every round shot it takes one more off of whats left out there

No wonder theres none to be found hes got it all LOL!!

Love those #2 S&W's what a great Collection of Rim Fires there....

Rick

You mean this stuff?

Yes, that's 56 boxes of 32 RF. Yes, they are mine. No, they are not for sale.
Sorry, I get a diabolical pleasure from posting pics of stuff people want that's not for sale!

I have quite a lot myself, not that much though. I am afraid shooting it at $2.50/round - doesn't make fun anymore, and the bang is quite small. One day somebody will all off a sudden announce 5 mio rounds of 32 RF ammo at $ 0.50 each round and here goes your value. Just saying.
