I have a (legal) 32 round drum mag for my Luger. Would it be ok to use it in IPSC?

I'm not going to ever do this, just wondering.

Thanks

Not sure if you are pulling someone's leg:rolleyes:. 10 rounds in mag and one in the chamber for IPSC. Is your 32 round mag pinned to 10 rounds;)

I think its pre 45 so its exempt... I wouldnt subject a nice antique to IPSC though..

I'm guessing it for a Luger so the answer is no. Here's why:

In Open, if the mag is more than 170mm long, it's not allowed.

In Standard and Modified, the gun would have to fit in 'the box' with the magazine inserted.

In Production Division, the Luger is not double action on the first shot and it's not on the approved list of guns.

For IPSC the firearm/gear has to be "practical".

I don't think it would pass the "Practical" definition with a 32 round drum mag.................

SKBY.

IF granting you are allowed with those mags.......
In a normal IPSC match (Level 1 or 2), you will need at least 5-10 round mag in a long course of fire. Unless you have IPSC legal mag pouches that would fit your 5-drum mags and dont mind running around the barricades with those snail mags around your waist... have fun with it.... BUT I doubt it!!!!:D

It is bulky and probably longer than 170 mm across its longest dimension (it's a drum mag, not a stick), and certainly not practical, so for those reasons I doubt it would be allowed.

No need to worry about it being pinned to 10, this mag is specifically exempted from the 10 round limit.

when did the "mag inserted" part come in? I thought Canada was exempt from this

Measure from the back of the feed lips straight down, if you are under 170mm then you are good to go in open, there is no restriction on how wide a mag can be just its length.

What the hells not practical about having 32 rounds in your gun?

'Reminds me of a clip i viewed of guys in the US shooting IPSC style with full auto's... Now that would be fun.

The mag lenght doesn't reflect the quantity(for canada)....which in canada is 10rds +1 in the chamber for IPSC, US shooters coming to our match need to pin there mag's....

No they do not have to pin them.
They need to be blocked to 10 rounds . this only needs to be temporary
