Just traded for a .32 Traditions Deehunter and need some help with load info. The guy I traded with had it drilled and tapped for a scope:rolleyes: and said it shot well with a linen patch ,.310 round ball and 11 to 15 grains of 3###. This load seems light to me but I'm use to .50 &.54 cal.shooting 80 to 110 of 2xx. Would this load be alright for squirrels out to 50 yards. Also any summer shoots coming up in southern Ontario_OH I pulled the scope and put the open sights back on and will replace these with silver front and buckhorn rear.

Summer Shoots

 Do you know anybody in the Oxford Rod&Gun Club?(Woodstock,On) Their 27th annual blackpowder weekend is in August:D 3rd weekend,I think,
Regards,Jed.
(you need primitive camp&clothing)

I just bought my grandson a .32 cal CVA Squirrel rifle.I'm going to start with 12 gr fff.I use a 9mm case for the powder measure.
We tried it last week and it was all over the paper.I think the patch dia. was too big.Going to try a smaller dia, later this week. Will keep you posted.

Thanks Nessy .I think I'll start with 15 grs and a Irish linen patch. I had a Mowery 54 cal. that was real fussy about patching. You could stuff down just about anything that would burn 3ff,2ff , pyro and any amount of it and it would give 5X accuracy. But change the patch from some extra heavy pillow ticking I found and it was like shooting a shot gun. But thats the fun in B/P all the shooting to find the right loads. Have fun with the CVA and your grandson.

Thanks Jed I use to shoot with the Brant Muzzleloaders back in the late 70's. I'll mark the weekend in my book. Hopefully I'll have the weekend off.
Isn't there a rendezvous/BP weekend in the Brantford area?July,maybe?
Regards,Jed.
