I happen to have a budget of $320 of fun money that i can spend on a tumbler. 8m in the edmonton area and i want to pick one up in the next couple of days and I was wondering if anyone knows of any deals around town?

What kind of tumbler? If you are looking for the wet stainless steel media variety, I suggest the Frankfort Arsenal Platinum.

I put around 750 000 rounds through a Frankford arsenal, and still works like new.

Tip: Put a rubberized mesh shelf liner (from the dollar store) on the bottom of your laundry sink so the lid does not wear out from scratches.

+1 on this. Just get a $25-$40 media separator if you don't find a package deal. Saves a lot of time. That and a magnetic pick up tool for the pins. Can find for $10 on sale at princess auto.

+2, just be sure to buy the high speed model meant for brass not rocks. I have the low speed I won at auction and it works great but the high speed will do it's job in half the time. Brass comes out looking like jewels.

You can upgrade the motor - I have both that original motor and higher speed one. Low sped one sits in a box as a back up just in case ... but I know Ill never have a problem unless I sell the backup motor!

WE have some very knowledgeable long time reloaders here who still use the dry media vibratory units and Im curious as to why they have never switched.

I did have an ultrasonic for a while and it did a good job but I prefer the way my Thumbler with stainless steel pins polish the brass

Another alternative that works for both wet and dry media - a used RCBS Sidewinder. Bought mine used for well under $300 and runs like a tank. Started with dry media but went stainless pins / wet tumbling and there is no comparison - even tarnished 20+ year old brass cleaned up to practically new!

Frankfort and Thumbler model B are also great choices - several of my experienced reloaded buddies swear by them!
