320 X Five Legion in IPSC

Anyone have any idea if the new 320 X Five Legion will be approved for IPSC Production with the mag well removed? It advertises a slightly better trigger, I imagine this would be the only factor at play.
 
I too would be interested in getting my hands on a SIG P320 X5 Legion for Production and eventually Production Optics but information is scarce.

For example, I understand that I have to remove the mag well, which is simple enough. However it's not clear if the supplied magazines with the extended base plate are legal for Production (do they fit in the box?)

Any info to ensure I don't buy a white elephant if I decide to get a P320 X5 Legion for IPSC Production?
 
Which I do think is a weakness in the IPSC Production and PO rules. It doesn't make much sense that Standard shooters have to use tiny little magazines to fit in a box, while production shooters can and do run 140mm and 170mm magazines. It's an advantage to the Production gun.
 
Out of the box the Legion is pretty much the perfect gun for competition. Flat shooting with excellent ergonomics, very good sights and trigger, well ballanced and accurate as all get-out. There are no upgrades it needs and you can basically take it out of the box and go shoot a match with it. Zero it first of course. Want to scope it and try PO? Five minutes to swap out the sight block for an optic.

Production Division in Canada and the US are relegated to ten rounds, so there is no advantage over standard or limited who have to fit in the box. They are different divisions and don't compete with each other. PO in Canada is relegated (federally) to ten rounds and there is no box where an optics gun will fit onside. In the US there are no restrictions capacity or mag length, so long as the are as ofm spec. Everyone is playing with the same set of parameters so again, no advantage.

You will love the Legion.
 
running a great big long mag in Production isn't an advantage at all. in Canada in IPSC we are limited to 10 rounds and in a few other places as well, beyond that the limit is 15. And while there might not be a box or gauge for Production and or mags, there is the rule about adding negligible weight, which in itself is a bit of a joke, but whatever. The point is, outside of a slight gain for reloads themselves, and only to a point, the really long additions make it more difficult, but they don't add capacity which is what the rule in Standard is about. Production achieves the same goal by limiting the number of rounds instead of the length of the mag.
 
For someone with giant hands like myself, having an inch longer mag for my shadow2 would be massively beneficial during reloads. Time to order some base plates.

IMO, Mecgar's Shadow 2 magazine with +2 Mecgar plastic base pad/extension is the best solution for Shadow 2s.

I would think the MecGar Shadow 2 mag with either the Henning or Taran Tactical mag extensions would be better, but as Slavex says it really is a disadvantage in Prod or PO unless you need the extra length for super huge hands

The ones you mention are fancier, granted, but also more expensive. And I don't think you gain any performance over the Mecgar +2 with the extra cost.
 
Okay, so I'm a hypocrite, I run Henning pads on my Shadow 2 mags. not so much for the extra length, but more so for their shape. they allow the hand to be flatter on the mag, it does seem to make a difference in my loading. But, I fully admit to being lured in by shiny new stuff all the time too
