Yes, i call tire shops. They could go sell at the junkyard but i guess they are too lazy or dont know the value. It took me a while to empty the bottom of that 55 gal drumm with gloves to fill the 5 gals in my car. Like one hour. So maybe they lost 60$ vs the scapyard, but my service of picking up their trash is worth more than 60$ to me so they got a good rebate on me . Fair deal.

Good idea. I'm trying to stockpile lead from work. Being a plumber, there's free lead for the taking every time we demolish an old cast iron drain with lead and oakum joints. What I'm looking forward to finding is one of the old tile showers with full lead floors! I'm not set up for casting yet, but I'll probably have to add something for hardness when I do. I think the plumber's lead is pretty soft.
 
I got out of casting but looking at all that lead makes my mouth water and my little guy stand to attention. I think I'll have to get back into it when I'm all set up down south, and build a proper set up for doing it..........kitchen stove isn't the best I found. Makes the wife a little pissy.
Gave away about 400 lbs of WW when I quit, as well as another 250 lbs of ingots, cleaned and fluxed. Ces't la vie........

Um, worth approx 450$ of lead... gave that away. I guess that was nice.

Melted another 180 pounds of ingots this afternoon, still have 300+ pounds to go I would say. That's a crap job. Should have bought 2 of those little bread molds when they were on rebate. one mold is good only for 36 pounds so I have to wait for ingots to cool between batches.
