325 WSM - My initial impressions

Rembo-I was there, you weren't, chronographed .30.06 190 Hornady in my BLR were faster than my buddie's Tikka 300 WSM with Nosler 180.

The 8mm Accubond has not been gettting good reports at all.
The 200 g Partition has a much higher ballistic coefficient than the 200 gr Accubond... go figure. I don't know where Nosler went wrong with this bullet but I have not heard of any real good results with it in the .325WSM!
Don't know about the 325WSM, but that 200 AB sure do shoot in my 700 Classic 8x57, groups averaging well under 1 MOA. As for the BC difference between the AB and the Partition, Nosler has stated that the BC for the AB is on the mark, and the previously listed BC for the Partition is quite optimistic. Shooting them both at similar velocities seems to bear this out. I have just about an inch more drop at 300 with the Partition than with the AB. BTW, shot a moose last fall with the 200 AB at 275 yards, complete penetration through the H/L area and instant bang-flop. Doesn't get any better than that!
Here's a typical group from my 8x57 with that 200AB

Hey thats good to know Eagleye.... I have heard and read a lot of disparaging info on the 200gr Accubond. I guess I should wait until I shoot one before I believe what I hear.;)

Boo,
I'm glad you're liking the gun I sold you. The only thing I ever fired out of it wwas 168 gr TSX's, but they never grouped quite that well, that being said it killed everything it barked at last year with somewhat dramatic results.

Martin. I worked up to the load you used starting 5 grains under. All the loads using the 168 TSX grouped under an inch and a quarter. The Gods must have been smiling as when I hit your load however as the bullets cut one ragged cluster.

I must say that with the exception of the TSX this particular rifle prefers flat based bullets. Boattails like the Ballistic Tip, Scirroco , Hornady BTSP seem to shoot well at '06 velocities but once the speed gets up to where it belongs things go South fast. Either that or I have to find a 300 yard range and see if they are taking more than 100 m to become stable at high speed.

second outing with the Abolt 325 proved to be better than the first.

BOSS set on "0", groups at 100 meters averaged 1.25" for 3 shots off the bench

the sensation when torching rounds off with the BOSS on is similar to being slapped in the nose.
