not quite - but to note a real relation between the area of a bullet base and a WSM case's ability to churn out more or less energy at the muzzle - which I find important. :rockOn:
 
I find this whole "there aint much bullets for 8mm" talk a serious crock of the proverbial.
I shoot a 8x57 and there are plenty of really good bullets for 8mm.
In fact Nosler introduced an Accubond specifically for the 325 and Woodleigh also has developed some bonded core, Protected Point(same as Mag Tip) 200gn and 220gn bullets especially with the higher velocity 325 in mind.
Then there's the swathe of excellent 8mm bullets made by RWS and Norma.
IMO the 325 WSM makes a lot of sense.
It's only problem is that can't afford one! :(
 
220 grain sierra gamekings would be excellent for this caliber. They are priced right, fly flat and accurate, and have thickened jackets to hold together when striking at magnum velocities. But the barnes TSX bullets would also be good, although I have not tried them in 8mm.:)
 
At least the 325 doesn't appear to be a "once" rifle, you know, shot once, dropped once, sold once,Compared to the 300s and the saums I haven't seen a lot of used ones.:eek:

I'm quite impressed with the initial accuracy of mine. It's only been to the range once so far and fired 26 rounds, but accuracy out of the box is good. Recoil of this round is less than I had expected, it's comfortable on the bench. The rifle is a Winchester M70 Coyote with medium heavy barrel and laminated stock. It has the controlled push round feed, different but seems alright.
I find a good selection of 8mm bullets, I have a few rifles in various 8mm rounds.
 
I handload the ammo for the hunter who called in this 53 inch bull this past fall. 180 grain Barnes Triple Shock X in his Abolt SS 325.

darn rights, that bull rocks, hopefully me and my 325 can bag one like that next season,that's if the gods see fit to bless me with a draw.otherwise I may have to stalk his grandchild. work less hunt/fish more.can one brainwash himself?lol!
 
That's an awesome bull! Not surprised by the performance of that TSX out of a 325 WSM. The moose that I have shot with my 8x68S, which is a ballistic twin of the 325, are DRT:cool: even at long range. Using a monolithic bullet like a TSX only makes the caliber that much capable of punching through heavy bone and tissue without fragmenting, and the weight retention allows the use of a lighter bullet with terminal performance similar to a heavier conventional bullet. I would definitely be shooting TSX's out of my 8x68S if the sierra gamekings didn't shoot so darn good out of my Steyr:p
