I am thinking of get another pistol caliber carbine, this time in 327 fed mag. Has anyone had any experience with this round in a carbine? Looking for the good or the bad. Not looking for “the ammo is hard to find and expensive ” comments. Thanks

What PCC comes in 327 mag?
Not looking for it to do anything different. I just like pistol calibers in long guns, though it would be a cool one to have, maybe shoot a few pest around the farm from time to time.
Fair enough. I think 327 Fed Mag is great for what it was designed for: To give 357Mag performance in smaller framed revolvers. I don't know of any other advantages. I guess it can be made to shoot a bit flatter than the 357 (but of course with the corresponding reduction in max range effectiveness), but I don't know if that's necessarily still going to be true if you're just looking at use in a long gun.
Some major disadvantages compared to 357Mag, though. The biggest disadvantage in my mind would be bullet selection. There just aren't that many options for 312 projectiles compared to 357. And they are probably designed for short(er) barrel use, so you might run the risk of overdriving them in a long gun. That's before you even get to questions of availability of both brass and bullets, but it sounds like you're not concerned about that.
But it's different, and interesting, and there's not really anything wrong with it. Personally, if looking at that category of cartridge, I'd probably be more interested in the 30 Carbine round. Just a thought - You might have more luck asking this question in the hunting rifles subforum.

As a farm gun, I think the M1 Carbine (non-restricted length) actually has a lot going for it. Detachable box mags are a huge advantage - Loading a tube magazine while watching a coyote disappearing around the corner is one of my least favourite things to do.
But then again, if that's really how it's going to be used, your break action single shot Encore is probably even better. Since you could get a barrel chambered in whatever cartridge you please, I don't think the 327 would be at the top of the list - Unless you had some particular interest in the cartridge.

I have a ruger m77 in 357 it’s what I tote around the farm the most. I think I will look in to the 30 carbine again. I was really between that and the 327. That’s the reason I made this post was just to get the conversation going to see if it would push me one way or the other. Thanks for the info and the help.
