33 WCF Loading Issue

I reloaded some of these last Fall and shot them but found the primers are popping out of the primer pockets a bit and the primers are rounded. When I stand the empty cases up on a flat surface they're all leaning slightly from the popped primers. Is this normal for these fired out of a Winchester 1886? I was loading 45 grains of H4895 with a 200 Grain Hornady Flat Nose with Remington 9-1/2 Large Rifle Primers.

.33 Load data

The load data that came with my 33 winchester lee dies indicates 38.4 grains of H4895 using 200 gr. bullets.
Hornady reload data - 8th edition (pg 636) does list 45.1 grains but as a maximum load to be used with caution. Perhaps okay for a newer reproduction but too hot for an original.
I am no expert but it appears you are overloading the cartrdiges for your specific rifle.

Was there carbon/soot around the case mouth?

My go-to load for any .33 I've had is 43.5gns of H-4895.
My manual says 45.1 max but I see no need to go that heavy in an old gun.
Does your action pop open after fireing?? that's a definate sign of too much.
I wouldn't worry about a primer backing out a wee bit on an old lever, lots of old 94s would do the same.
I would recommend backing a couple gns & enjoy, rather than risk an old girl.

I'd say you may have a bit of excessive headspace.
