Figured I should do a tread on this old 1886 in 33 WCF.
One chap was interested in her but the deal didn't go through.

Then yakking with the gun powder feller........45-70 brass will werkie.
My buddie was driving past H's place and stopped in for a qwick chat and passes the brass over.
I git them shortly later.

Then nuther gummutter's I've known since hi-lecole traded me sum bullets. Yup, traded tree oh ate fer treetreewheat.
Then the fun started.
Never shrunk down biggun brass mouth to smaller size this distance.

Tried sum of that thick STP chit and me pense alittle is gewd, but toomuchie makes for stress.

Then I had the eye deer to pull out the decapping pin and expander thinking maybe more room inside to make for
littler damage. Hate to say it........but fruckagin.
I collapsed three mouths.

Then I took the sizer die and backed it out a bit, no holder to bottom die touchie.
Installed the expander ball pin, kept it up a wee bit higher than normal and worked the brass over.
Shined it all up, made them shorter and cleaned the case mouth all nice.
No inside'outside burrs and slickier'n chit.

Took the RCBS case lube right owtta the bottle and did a bit of lathering. Here in lies the issue.
Too muchie causes wrinkles and not nuff makes the case stuck. Good thing for fat rims eye tell'ya.
Had things bouncing off the reloading bench.

My old Hornady book is the only one out of four I own that gives any reloading info on this gal.
And some inside trader/loading info tells me IMR 3031 is real close to IMR 4320 which I have plenty of.
I compare 30 caliber reloading info on these two powders that list both and the IMR 4320 is usually at least a bit
more than the IMR 3031.
So I decided to use 40 grns of kerpow fluid and that was my load behind these 338 200 pills. Pointy bullets, but
such is life.
Just need to shoot sum paper kritters. Mr. H has shown some keen interest in this gal and mentioned he wishes
to be able to shoot her.
Once I git me arse back from this rondezzvews I will load up a bunch of chewters that need sighting in and we'll
go terrereyez yer shooting range..........or mine.

Here she is with the pointy bullets stretched owt. No leafs to adorn it with, but the happy facia should suffice.

Sooooo, out of 20 brass, I pewched three, maybe four.
The one with the deep wrinkles I will shoot just to see how the brass will recover.
If'n Mr. H says nay-nay, don't chewt it, I won't.
But the creases aren't cracked right through and I tawt it'd make a good s'periment.
Will bring my camera and shoot photos of it.........if'n I remember.
It will be the last shot for logics sake.

I used a similar method to make martini brass. Size a bit at a time and spread the lube at each crunch of the press, so it doesn't build up.
 
I found forming dies on CGN. They work great. Starline brass really has to be annealed first but it wouldnt hurt the Rem or Win brass either.
 
I reform the 45-70 brass in 2 steps by running it in a 40-65 sizing die and then the 33 sizer. It is easier on the brass if of course you happen to have the 40-65 dies!
