Who has marlin 336 Ys in stock?
I’m intrigued by these. Does anyone use one? Is the lop too short? Thanks.

I had one and found the lop too short. If I had used it as is,likely I would have smacked myself when I fired it. I used a slip on reçoit pad to address this and it worked like a charm. I didn't care for the matte finish on the metal so I traded it off for a 336 big loop with blued metal. If the 336y was blued i probably would have kep it. The 336y functioned well and a delight carry. Hope this helps. Cheers Bac4

Decent little rifles.

I bought one new in 2015. Short LOP and overall makes a great still hunter for whitetail. Very accurate with Super-X 150PPSP, decent accuracy with Hornady Leverevolution 160FTX. One thing I do like is I'm getting 2308fps avg@20c from this ammo 15 feet from muzzle(only100fps less than claimed 24"factory barrel). That's an honest 1900ft lbs of energy in a 16" barrel carbine .30-30! With the good B.C of the FTX(.331), that makes the little carbine good out to 200yds+ as far as energy goes on whitetail, bullet performance I can't say.
It's the laminate one with the matte finish. No issues so far..have not taken a deer with this rifle yet.

Mine was a Remlin and it functioned well with no issues. It is my understanding there was an earlier model called the Spikehorn that was JM and was blued with a walnut stock.(could be wrong on that) I went with the 336 Bl which has an 18.5" barrel

This is my 336 youth. I junked the heavy clubby stocks for a set of ramline youth stocks. I lost a pound and the gun feels slim and handy now. The sights are Williams rear and a firesight front. This is a great compact fast swinging gun with lots of oomph for deer and bears. I wouldn't hesitate for elk or moose either in the right circumstances.
