338-06 Hornady 185 GMX

I don't think many people shooting 338s are doing it so they can shoot bullets that weigh basically the same as your typical 30cal hunting ammo. Of course, I could be wrong, I dont have a 338-anything... Although if I did, it would be spitting 210s at the lightest...

I have a 338-06 and have not tried any 185 grain Hornadies. I loaded up some 185 TTSX, and they did not shoot nearly as well as the Accubond/Partition bullets. However I think part of the issue was the seating depth is quite different for the TSX and TTSX. This chambering certainly hits with authority with the 210 grain Partitions. It has knocked a Wood Bison off his feet and piled him right up, and also a cow elk was flipped right over DRT.

I have a 338 RUM for shooting BIGGER 338 cal bullets ! Thxs RJ

Thought about trying them in my 338-06 but decided there would be no point going that low so i stuck with 215gr Sierra Gamekings and 210 Nosler Partitions.. Settled on H4350 powder and am getting 2775FPS with the 215 sierra.. Cant say how they kill as i hahve ever shot anything with them.. but based on what i seen compared to my buddies 300 WM pushing 180 Bear Claws on the bullet test i would say there a VERY tough bullet and kill anything on the northern Hemisphere within 200-300 yards..
