find a savage axis on sale , work over the trigger , install a boyds stock and then splurge on a really nice prefit barrel and have lots of money let for a even nicer scope .

add about 600.00 and do the same with a rem700

unless you have reamers already , myself , I would push the shoulder as far forward as possible and give it a 40 degree shoulder . a case capacity of around 80 grains of water should be possible , 338 win mag is around 86 grains of water .

I built one off a Rem 700.

All in, by the time the final was tallied, I spent $2700 on a gun I already owned (including glass).

At the time, for $3000 I coulda bought a cooper!

I would do it again, but you should have all of the available info.....

PS; if you reused all of the "stock" items on a NIB SPS DM M700, all you would be looking at was $1000.
