338-06

Another great one! I'm surprised that it's not lighter. I just happened to weigh my Winchester M70 yesterday. .300 WSM, with factory one piece steel bottom plate, Talley LW, VX3 3.5-10x40 and McMillan Compact Swirly at 7.8 Lbs. I would have expexted you Edge stock to more than make up for my short action.

RMR does it again with another very fine rifle in a most excellent chambering. Between your .338-06 and .260, you're good to go for anything here in BC and pretty much anywhere else on this continent, enjoy :)

you bet! 223, 260, 338-06 and 375R has the bases covered! Throw in a couple Ruger No1's for nostalgia in 300wm and 303B and I should be able to stop buying/building rifles for a while :HR:

Couldn't sleep so I headed out shooting at 6am to test some 225gr Accubond loads I made the other night.

H4350, Nosler brass, F210M primer
h4350 58grs - 2540 fps
59 - 2595 fps
59.5 - 2620 fps

RL17 58 grs - 2650 fps
59 - 2665 fps
59.5 - 2680 fps

H4350 gave better groups, slightly over MOA @ 200ish yards. I'll load some more up @ 59.5grs H4350 and retest next week out to 450 yards. If if continues to shoot MOA or close to, I'll be happy for now. I'd like to get my hands on some 210gr Barnes TTSX but I don't want to #### around with load development in the fall when I'd rather be out in the bush

Slightly over MOA at 200yds means slightly over 2". Not 1".
Good point! Hey TB, was it a one inch group or two inch group? (my 200 yard targets are 1" grid...hmm...)

I'm a but surprised that it is that heavy though
Not that surprising really. My RMR Model 70 .338-06 weighs in at 7lbs 9oz scoped. It has the Talley mounts and a Leupold VXIII 2.5-8 (1.2oz lighter) It has the same length/contour Pac-Nor barrel but fluted to reduce weight and I'm running the factory Featherweight walnut handle.

With a young bride and a new rifle, I wouldn't be getting much sleep either! ;)

338-06 worked good last fall! Managed to find a nice little bull on day 5 of our hunt. 225gr Accubonds did the job well, average weight retention 80% - freezer is lookin' good!
