Who has or who has had a 338-300 win mag wildcat - i have a std lenght m98 mauser parker hale i would like to rebarrel and chamber into one of the 338 cal series of cartridges- because of mag box lenght i have to becareful- prob 338 win mag would be easy and good but i have had 2 of these -(boring) i took a 300 win mag case -necked it up to 338 - seated a 225-horn to the cannelure and tried it for fit- all ok a lot more powder space -should be a winner- what do you all think ? If it will fit the magazine box it will work. I see very little ballistic gain from this over the 338 WM, but as long as you're having fun, go for it. Sure you need a 338? Maybe a 8mm PMM is what you really need, . I've played with few wildcats on the 300 WM case (7mm, 264, 9.3). They have all worked out well, though you have to be careful about col and magbox length. Other then that, smooth sailing. - dan
