Anyone out there had any experience with the weatherby accumark in 338-378, i had a look at one the other day and it seems like an excellent rifle, i have heard weatherby has alot of freebore which can negatively affect accuracy. If anyone has any experience with this rifle good or bad i would appreciate hearing about it.

My 338-378 was very accurate, sub inch average. It was a plain sythetic not even bedded. I'd asume the Accumark could only be better.

Both the 338-378 and 338 Lapua derive from the same parent (416 rigby), so what can be said of one likely applies to the other. As we all know, the 338 Lapua has a reputation for accuracy, but that's probably more to do with the rifles it's chambered in. The MkV weatherby has had a lot of accuracy complaints in the past and is a relatively complex action (which means it's tough to accurize). Nevertheless, it should be easily capable of 'hunting' accuracy, but don't expect benchrest bugholes, or MOA at 1k
