338-378 Mark V Weatherby rifles shoots 338Lapua as well?

Hi all,

I am really excited about getting my Weatherby Mark V Accumark 338-378 shortly from Ontario, I am doing sooo much reading about this calibre and rifle.

I came up to this website and the author says that these Weatherby's shoot both 338-378WTBYMag & 338LM.

I Contacted Weatherby today, and the customer service emailed me back that this is not the case (no pun intended).

Also, I have read on some forums that people shoot 338LapuaMag from this rifle, that this 338-378 rifle is compatible to shoot 338LM. Is this correct? I cannot find anything on the Weatherby site that confirms this.

The 338-378 and 338 Lapua cartridges are different sizes and are not compatible.

The author merely states that Weatherby is chambering rifles in .338 Lapua as well as the .338-378Wby. He does not imply that one could be fired in a gun chambered for the other.
