Similar to the 30 Cal test I would like to do a 338 version but rather than test a bunch of normal cup and core bullets would like to focus on vld/match/blow up on deer bullets.

I will use Barnes tsx/ttsx and 250 partition as control.

I would like to test the 250 and 300 scenar, 250 and 300 Berger, 285 hornady 250 and 300 smk. As well as others in this category that perhaps elude me.

Will do this in July/August when I have off.

Will be launched at Max speed from a 338-378 wby.

If you have bullets mentioned above and would like to mail me a few for the test that would be fantastic.

Should be interesting to see how they hold up.

I could help you out with 250 and 300 grain SMKs, and probably 300 grain Bergers. I've also got some 250 grain Accubonds and 275 grain A-frames if those are any use to your science project.

Dumb questions; what is the point of shooting cup & core bullets at max' velocity?
Ummm... when you know they are going to blow up?
What will you prove? Or what are you trying to prove?
What distance will you set your impact media, and what will you use as impact media?
Will you set up a chrono right in front of the impact testing box/container (I like to do that)?

Just a quick update. I have 250 and 300 smks, 250 and 285 hornady and 300gr Berger otm. Still Looking for scenar 250 and 300. Will do this test in the next few weeks.

I tested the 300gr Berger OTM, 300gr Sierra Match King, 285gr Hornady BTHP, 265gr Barnes LRX and the 250gr Nosler Partition GOLD (has a longer shank than the regular partition). I posted the results in the original thread. Many thanks to those that sent me bullets for the test. I apologize for not testing the 250gr versions but I did not have enough cow femurs for that test.
