Maybe this can make it to Summerland in 2009 ... I think I have some new shooters and guns headed that way...

I hope to tag along and try some big guns...

It is set up as a single shot and I don't remember the twist... the customer supplied all the parts... I just put it together...

Gaillard .338's are 1in10.
TPS rings
Holland Lug?

I'm still waiting for a stock for a .338 Lapua I made a buddy, trued action, Gaillard barrel, custom lug, Holland brake, 20MOA Farrel Base, TPS rings, 6-24 4200, trigger job, but not much to show without a stock :D

Looks good Dennis

Looks great Dennis!
I got to have a look (and a grope) the other night.

Flawless as per usual! Very cool!

I hope the "baby" Edge shoots as good as it did before....Hate to mess with perfection, but can't help myself! :slap:

How are the others comming along? :D:D

What case is the 'edge' based on? Is it faster than the 338L?

338 Edge is 300 RUM necked out to 338. Case volume is about the same as 338 Lapua as is overall performance. The big advantage the Edge has over 338 Lapua (which I love) is that they can be built on a Remington 700 action with NO modification to the bolt.
338LAI however has about 9% more case capacity and horsepower.

Thanks Rick, Is barrel life similar between the edge and 338L?

Hard to say, but all things being equal there should be no difference.
My 338LAI has just seen 1500 rnds and is still a well under 1/2 moa shooter, exhibiting very minor signs of fire cracking and throat erosion, I would have expected it to be much worse with that number of rounds through it.

What about dies and brass, do you just used the 300rum brass and neck up to 338 with dies, or you have to buy specific 338 edge brass, if then who make 338 edge brass?

It's OK if we are jealous a little bit, right??? Right???

Just keep rubbing it in. Nice accurate rifles. Shooting them in Summerland. Boy, that whole package must really tear a guy up on the inside. ;)

won't tear me inside, Just my Wallet!.

I'm using Nosler 300Ultra brass....Nosler/Federal seem to have the best overall Ultra mag brass.
Any 300 or 375 Ultra brass could be used.

Dies are Redding 338Ultra...Turned out....They work fine, but I have some custom dies on order.

Though Rick is more of an expert than me I understood the Edge to be right between the 338Lapua and the 338lapua improved. 300gr bullets run at 2850 from the Lapua, the Edge 2950, while the AI can reach near 3100fps?
Perhaps Rick can answer this?

My Edge is one of a set of three...Dennis should have the 300Win and the 223Wilde finished up any day.

Sorry to rub it in bufalobill! :kickInTheNuts:

Will post pictures.

.

I am no expert but have built several of each of the calibers you mention and figure you are correct in that the Edge is in the middle, at least that is what I have experienced.

Some US shooters report reaching over 3000fps with the Edge and Tomahawk in longer length barrels. 3100fps has been reached by some shooters but brass life is short.

This is where the Lapua case really shines. Built like a SBH. The Rem case doesn't fair so well at super toasty levels but it is no whimp.

However, the Rem case cost about 1/3 the Lapua so....

All great choices and hope to see some next year in Summerland,

Jerry
