338 Federal - Alive or Dead

I have a Tikka T3 SS Lite with a Leupold 2.5-8 VX111 mounted in LW Talleys ! I have converted the short bolt stop out to a long one and now use long mags so i can seat the bullets out ! Shoots GREAT ! I LOVE the little Cartridge -
Starline also makes BRASS for it . Lots of 338 cal Bullets ! Its a MUCH Better cartridge then the 358 Win ! :dancingbanana: JD

The .350 Rem Mag ain't dead... it is just quietly heading to the field and getting it done in the hands of doers... and doers are generally not talkers...

Both brass and ammo are still available... and since when do reloaders need either as long as there are parent cases and proper caliber bullets... even then, 35's are easy to cast for = Not Dead.

I have never had a hard time finding brass or bullets for the .350 RM.

I probably will stick with Whelen this fall for deer.
It’s a jc Higgins model 50 bolt action with a green mountain barrel.
It’s a 24” digging bar of a barrel..., she’s pretty heavy.

I also have a new ruger no 1 in 35 Whelen but it isn’t grouping very good yet.
Using 225 Gn nosler partition bullets.

Someone suggested 250 gn bullets to match 1-12 twist.
Need to play some more!
 
another ideal sambar cartridge for down here stalking but as mentioned, the 06 does the same job just as well an who aint got an 06
 
I think my project this year is gonna be to get a Ruger gunsite scout and get it rebarreled in 338 fed! Kinda had an itch to do this for a while now it's a super cartridge and brass is easy to come buy.

I would have done that in .358 Win if I had not found another Frontier in .358... it is a good plan.

Nothing to write home about with a .250 Sectional Density. You're further ahead with a 180gr in a 308 and pretty nearly every rifle on the planet is chambered for the 308. You can't even cheat the system and go with a monometal bullet (to any degree of usefulness) due to the cartoonish length of spritzer pointed monos. Short cases just don't have the oomph to get them up to operating speeds over any amount of distance.
