I'm looking for a Wolfe Match barrel in 338 federal for M14/M1A. I've seen them available outside Canada. Wondering if anyone knows of any in Canada or any importers.

I aware there are Garands out there in magnum caliber as big as the 458wm but not sure about the M1A platform.

I will be interest to see some pics to see how they solve the magazine / feeding etc.

Wolf won't sell their barrels direct to consumer. So there's that....

But, it's not beyond the real of possibility to have one built in the US then exported to Canada. But the costs would be in the "high"end, plus export permits, plus our currently poor exchange rate.... set a budget of $6000 and hope it's gunna cover the bill.

I am currently working on a 338 Fed, the barrels are the tough part. Its fairly easy to get a 338 bbl but getting one with a M1A contour is, well, nigh impossible. Ive found a fella willing to contour barrels in a CNC, but you'll be in that $350-$400 range for machine time. The biggest problem is the barrels don't take contouring like that well if they are already finished on the inside. Generally, most barrel makers bore the blank, make a couple passes on the rifling (to start but still a couple thou under finished bore dia), contour the outter barrel, then finish cutting the rifling, lap and finish lapping.

So the big problem comes when you buy a finished 338 barrel and then recontour to the M1A profile. You pretty much are guaranteed to "wreck" the "perfection" of the interior lapped rifling.

Pretty much it boils down to this, I can buy a blank, have it contoured, instal it and chamber it for 338 federal. The final price tag will likely run close to $1250. And I can only speculate, but you'd be looking at a 3-4 MOA rifle.
