338 federal opinions

I would like to buy a new hunting rifle and am really liking what i read about the .338 federal, does anyone know this calibre or have and opinions on it?
 
I hunt with a Tikka in .338 federal. I believe the terminal ballistics are better with a larger projectile. Recoil is slightly more than a .308 for example but not significantly so in hunting applications.
Only federal makes ammuniton for it as far as I know. If you handload it can use .308 brass which is easily obtained. It doesn't handle bullets over 210 grains very well in my rifle.
 
works great for me. I like the short action, easy to make work and accurate as hell. Is it better than one cartridge or another? hell no, just different and that's what I wanted. Taken moose, elk and deer. It works.
