338 federal powders for 180 accubonds?

Thanx for posting the chart RJ.

One of the powders shown there is RL7. I just found an 8lb keg of that today and bought it from the estate. It was all that was left by the time I got there. The Widow, only called me about an hour before, but she had allowed anyone in the family who wanted any of her husband's stuff, to just come and take whatever they wanted.

I gave her $200 for it, unopened, and she was shocked. I told her I was only going to give 60% of what the value might be and she was fine.

She was upset because her husband always told her the items were worth much less when he brought them home.

I didn't query what the other "stuff" was but I know what he used to bring to the range on the odd occasion I saw him.

She's not hurting financially though so I just stayed quiet.

RL7 is a very good powder for the 338 Federal.

So you developed a load in +20c and hunt in +20c?
I usually developed my loads in +20c because it’s nice out at the range those days. But hunt in -20c to -30c. So I prefer temp stable. I do realize ballistics will change with the big difference in temps with my loads but I guess peace of mind knowing is temp stable helps. lol

I used TAC and Accurate 2230 the most. They were very effective. I used H4895 for heavier bullets. I don’t recall exactly which powder I used for the 160 Barnes, but at max load IN MY RIFLE it was safe. It shot extremely well.

It was also very compressed. I had to seat the bullet 1/4 of the way, and tap the side of the case to get the powder to settle more, before fully seating.
