.338 federal reviews

The longest distance I ever shot at an animal was at bull moose at 325m or so with my custom 21" barrel LH Rem mod 788 in 7-57 AI. It's doable to do the same feat with 338Federal as well. The only question is what would you rather have in your hands when creature with the ability to fight back is within stone throw or closer in the bush....7mmMag with typical 150gr NP or 338Fed with typical 210gr NP? Don't ask me the same question, I allready know the answer....

Easy, when you put such limits on distance the .358 Win with the 225gr Partition is best (out of .308 based cases). For real life, the 7mm RM is the best.

in the semi open to open land, or open top high country, sure a 7rm.. for stalking deer/big deer species up close an personal 338fed.

thats real life, everyones style of hunting, terrain of land, the game thats persued, the regions etc etc,
wouldnt you agree the .338 fed has its place as a stalkers mountain rifle for big game deer etc? where shots are typically under 200+ ?

short actioned an all

Different strokes for different folks. But if you are shooting at less than 200, and want a larger bore short action, then why not a .358 Win? At any rate, dead is dead and there is nothing the .358 will kill that the .338 (or .308) won't, so choose whichever tickles your fancy. For me, in medium bore, I am not hampered by the slightly longer action of the .338 Win Mag, which can take advantage of the high SD, heavy .338" bullets.
