I've read that savage is bringing 338 federal to its lineup. I want a 338 federal bad, but can't find one anywhere.

Cabelas and wholesale sports don't list anything chambered in it. Where can a guy find one?

I have a 223 Hog Hunter and really like it. Quite accurate with the right ammo. I already have a number of medium bore rifles but I'm thinking about getting another Hog Hunter in 338 Federal  -

Or you could load a 338 WM down to 338 Federal speeds.
if one was on a budget and couldn't squeeze a couple hundred bucks out then I could see the point of this, but I'm not for 'downloading' big cases like the 33 Magnum.

otherwise we should of all just bought a 300 Magnum and not made any of the others :)

as far as the 338 Federal goes, I actually think it has a great place in the line up of Deer/Elk/Sambar huntin cartridges.. a lot more .338 projectiles around now days than the old .358 cal, an that old chestnut had its place !?

I havnt had the chance to wallop any Game with a Fed but have seen what my 308 and the 35 whelen can do, I would happily resize brass an reload only for a Fedral.

The 338 fed doesn't have the belt so many hate. I think it would be a great short barreled hunting rifle for shots under 250 yards and where most shots are less than 75 yards. Cheaper projectiles lends to more shooting. Wish it had the 40 degree shoulder for brass life though.

I bought a Ruger in 338 fed last spring been shooting 200g hornadys..nice 1-4 leopold ..shot bear and a couple deer with it...totally impressed with accuracy it is my go to gun for knocking heads off of grouse.

I have a tonne of 308 brass begging to be resized. 338 federal makes sense in my situation. Saw that link about savage bringing it in. However try finding it online for sale or calling around to local shops to get one!!
