338 Federal!

260 / 338 FED. Same shell-holder, same trim to length ??

I think TB's just getting lazy like us 25-06/35 Whelan guys !

Really do like the 85's ... wasn't fussy on the 75's.
Optilok Ex-Lo's ? (careful, different screws) and which scope ???

338 Federal is not exactly boring... and the Sako 85 is extremely cool!
But Bartell giving up on Remingtons is funny as hell... next thing you know he will sell his Muscle car and buy a V/W...:nest:

Oh Yeah, and the CRF is a hybrid, you can drop cartridge in the action and push feed but they control feed out of the Mag very nicely...:yingyang:

Good move Tod, I'm considering going to the same cartridge for moose.Let us know what your impressions are when you get it out to the range for testing.
I'll probably just repipe my model 7 in .338 federal though , since I really like the way it handles.

found out today that it isnt a laminate stock, it is synthetic. kinda dissapointing but maybe it will grow on me. Might have it in a couple weeks

roger that. plasssstic :(

:puke:there we go

It will be kind of strange having a Sako rifle, slumming it with a tupperware handle. Im sure it will shoot well, I just dont like the hollow sounds and cheap feel. If I end up loving the rifle, I may spring for a McMillan Edge someday, I see some guys in the US are putting them on 85s

they're not bad for a injection molded stock, but for a rifle that sells for $1600, its a POS stock no different than a $600 T3

I just weighed an empty primed 338 Federal case and an empty primed 308 W-W case necked up in a 338 win mag die

Weighed them, then filled them to the top with water and weighed them again.

The resized W-W 308 case weighs almost 15 grains less than a F-C 338 Federal case. That equaled a capacity that will hold 2.3 grains more volume compared to a factory 338 Federal case

combine a case that holds 2 grains more powder and a magazine that will allow COL of 2.9ish inches...hmmmmmmmmm :)

Im thinking maybe 2350-2400. Bullet of choice would be the 250 grain Hornady round nose Interlock. 200 yards wouldnt be that far of a stretch, and I think it would hammer stuff pretty hard...we will see :D

I plan on loading the 210 TSX for hunting and the 215 grain Sierra GameKing for practice. Stay tuned for range reports in the coming weeks (I need the damn gun first!)
