Considering thats full speed in a 378 your going to need a pretty big case, or 42" of barrel.

I just found out that ted has the Ultra mag reamer so that might be a better choice I'm going to call him shortly and discuss my options.

Realistically? No. Some folks just have to have one I guess (and I understand that, Lord knows I've bought guns for less reason). I don't think a Lapua in any barrel shorter then 30" is worth it. The 338 RUM does everything the Lapua does, except have the cachet. Damn good brass though. - dan

300's at 3100 fps, I would try 338-378 Wby with a 30" or 32" barrel (or something with that kind of case capacity, say a 338-416 Rigby Improved, 338 Excaliber, etc). I forget the specs on your 338 Mystic Jerry, would you care to help those of us with faulty memories out? - dan

I'd have to agree Tod, although better used on Moose than paper. I shot my 1st moose with the 338-8MM Mag. with 275 the Speer of all things. They worked great with exceptional penetration. That was 19 yrs ago.

Well the rifle is on it's way to Ted and in a few days I need to send a few loaded rounds and my specs for the rifle. Here's what i'm thinking so far but I have a few days to change it up.

Stainless Rem. 700
26" # 3 countour barrel, fluted in 338 UM
full accurizing package
barrel bead blasted to match the action
bedded in the original stock until I can upgrade

What would you do/ not do, and what would you change in my spec?

The only thing that is set in stone so far is the action that i'm using and the man that is building it!
