338 L.M. And H1000

Went to the range and my loads for my 250 inter-locks, was great, 25 rounds max SD was 36 FPS . Normal was under 20 FPS, using H1000. This was me zeroing, left most is 2 rounds , adjust land 2 more, over adjust to the right, then adjust to center. Getting better!

Well if the posties go back to work, and we have a country in a few days I'll get my long delayed fresh cases in the mail. With that, I can try the Complete Lapua Load. 300 grain Lapua Scenars VV powder and Lapua cases.. I'll admit shooting the Swedish Mauser has been nice, but it feels a bit like a pop pew compared to this one.

Went to the range today, with some of my reloads. Definitely getting some results on the 250 Interlocks, AND my 300 grain Lapua with N565. I had sub MOA until my frostbite started making itself known. But before that running the ladder test, I found the node for the new powder bullet combo. 81 grains is the answer for my rifle.

What seating depth are you starting with for the 300gr Scenars ?

3.770 I can't seat them to the Lapua/VV load COAL as the chamber throat and the mag wont allow it. So I started my ladder test way low, to allow for that.

What magazines do you have ? 3.770 is longer than I can run in the CIP Mag? (I think)

I know allot of chambers are cut for the 250grs projectiles. I have a barrel coming that has been supplied with the info that it will run the 300gr stuff so I’m hoping to have it throated a little longer. The barrel company is looking after it though.

When I tried to purchase through my LGS, this what the Savage rep sent. Below is the response regarding the 110 BA Mag. That was a 55190 and it was discontinued a couple of years ago. Best bet is to see if any distributors have one left in stock. I would try Ellwood Epps or Western Gun Parts as these magazines are sold to them when deemed end of life by Savage.

I'm running a Savage 110 BA LE model, I have the stock one and an MDT aftermarket one I found for sale. Fortunately it was before the x-border shipping got impinged.

My 300gr Bergers seated 20 thou off are around 3.9". Single feed only. My 285 eldm load barely fits in a CIP length mag while being ~25 thou off the lands.
What velocity are you seeing with N565 and those 300gr Scenars?
I've been running N570 with the 285s and the 300gr Bergers. Excellent velocity, SDs and accuracy with that powder.

2500 ish FPS

I have tried looking up the 225 CX bullet with the new Ramshot Grand powder to see if a load has been developed yet but it hasn't been published yet.
If your barrel is longer than 24" it could be worth looking into it as a good powder. H4831SC, H1000 and possibly Retumbo can produce in the 24" and under. Of course every rifle is different. If your barrel is longer, you can gain FPS and SD by going slower burn. The new RS Grand is exceptional with longer barrels and magnum cartridges, but it's just been introduced. It is also manufactured in the U.S. not overseas. Cheers

I've tried the CX's , only with the H1000 though. Unless I want to pay HAZMAT fees, H1000 & N565 are it right now.

Thanks! That was some good info. I have a feeling I will be single loading the heavy long projectiles but hoping some lighter ones will mag feed if I decide to load some up!
