338 lapua: ? AX 338 vs AX AICS Custom action vs DTA SRS

hello, I'm looking to buy a 338 lapua but I need some help and advise.

I don't now if ist better to buy a Accuracy International AX 338 or make me a custom one whit the AX AICS and a surgeon action/kreiger barrrel.

Or buy a DTA SRS in 338.

I want to now if it easy to manipulate the bolt on the DTA SRS, changing mags and stay on the target, etc.

weight of all ?
good for cold temperature -40*C. ?
etc.

Help me make my choice.

IMO I think that the AICS AX has potential. It's not a "turn key" product. I built a AICS with a Stiller action, and I waited a year alone for delivery of the action.

The PGWDT is a "turn key" product, and they can source the glass as well.
It's proven, and a "buy once cry once" LOL
If I owned a Timberwolf, I don't think I'd look back. :)
 
I would love to get the timberwolf but due to price I am considering the savage 110ba I have heard tons of good reviews on it and you can't beat the price.
 
I have the 110BA as I have limited access to looooong range and so can't justify a more expensive .338 and it is a fine rifle - for the money it is very hard to beat. If I had better long range access and there more use for a .338, I would without doubt be considering the Timberwolf.

I have read a lot of issues with Hornady Ammuntion and the cases sticking in the chamber and not extracting.........Do a search over at Snipershide, Sniper Central, and AR15.com..........other then that the owners seem pretty happy with the rifle......
 
Being made in Canada doesn't mean the timberwolf is the best of all guys.

I think the DTA is the best option. The timberwolf is nice but wouldn't be in use if it wasn't made here.

Irrespective of where it is made it is a very fine rifle - I do not know if it is the 'best' rifle chambered in .338 Lapua but it is certainly top-tier like its' baby brother the Coyote and I think having a Canadian manufacturer of such SWS is a good thing for those of us who like to have access to them :)
 
I have shot the DTA SRS, and although it is an accurate rifle. If I recall it was under 0.5moa to 300yrds with hornaday commercial ammo. I personally found it ergonomicly awkward, its short and kinda square. The full deployment package is pretty cool, really comes with everything you need. The switch barrel idea is also unique, but its pricey.

At the end of the day its whatever prevents your #### from falling off.
 
If you are willing to wait I would build on a Surgeon XL, make everything just the way you want it. If you want it now I would order a AX from Wolverine and not look back, good luck!

I use Hornady Ammo in my Barrett 98B all the time and have never had a problem, ever. And i get .5 MOA groupings with it at 300m :) I love my Barrett, I would take a look at it as well, i was in your same boat a while back, except it was a either 98b or Timberwolf for me, i've heard some horror stories with the DTS so i avoided it.

edit, The AX is nice but to get one all decked out is like $10,000 so i said no to that one as well. But ultimately its whatever makes your heart go boom and makes your wallet the happiest haha

Nice, I was wondering when we would see the other TAN S&B. That's what I got on my DTA, what a nice piece of kit.

Only thing I changed personally is the bipod. I bought a versa-pod. Everything else what perfect out of the box.
