I used the 338 Lapua quite a bit at the range but the only animal I took with it was a poor old moose. I used the 250 Sierra SBT over IMR7828 with FED 215 primers, I never recovered the bullet since it was a pass through and the range was about 100yds. My choice of bullets was based on what the rifle shot best. For long range the Sierra is hard to beat because of the high BC.

The Lapua Naturalis is a superb bullet, being a solid with a valve to facilitate expasion which is about 98% as is weight retention. These figures are not attainable with jacketed bullets.

peterdobson: i read a LOT about naturalis but the ballistic chart is metric and i have HARD time to compare it to anything else in the same or different caliber. I have opened 2 window, one with the scenar and one with the naturalis and all the number was higher for the scenar, even impact power.

Is it a least more powerfull than my .300 ?? that my BIG question...

Energy, as correctly measured in Joules at 300 Meters

.300 Win Mag. 185 grain Mega 1936 J
.300 Win Mag. 200 grain Naturalis 2339 J
.338 Lapua Mag. 231 grain Naturalis 3519 J

1 foot-pound = 1.356 Joules

Users say the Lapua bullet is tops. Of course that company is like that. Efficient bunch and very tough, maybe that's why they like us.

Peter

Any accuracy reports or BC figures for the 250 Accubond? Those new E Tips look alot like the Naturalis ;) guess Lapua didn't have a patent.
