Just seeing if any of you have some good loads for the Lapua. Posted under sporting arms got a few replies but not what I expected though did get some great info but was hoping for more , am I d:h:

I have played with the 338LM.

One of my favourite loads is published in the VihtaVuori Edition 8 manual.

200gn Hndy SP over 102.8gn VV N165. This cronoed at 3,400ft/s.

Load development for my rifle ended with:

Barnes 185 TSX Moly - 103.4 VV N165

Nosler 200 Spitzer M - 102.6 VV N165

Lapua 250 Scenar M - 82.5 VV N165
- 106.0 US869

Lapua 250 Lockbase M - 89.4 VV N165

Barnes 250 Solid Banded M - 91.5 RL25

Sierra 250 Match King - 107.8 US869

Lapua 300 Scenar M - 102.5 US869
- 87.0 RL25
- 82.4 VV N165

Working on developing loads with VV N170 at the moment.

How is the accuracy and velocity of the us869 with the 300 gr scenars? I currently run 87 grs of RL25 with the 300's as my long range accuracy load, but I was wondering if there was a way I could get some more velocity.

I only have a 26" barrel though, and 869 is slow...

The accuracy of US869 in this cartridge is not the best that I have seen, although velocity is the higest that I have tested to date. I also found it 'dirty' with a fair amount of unburned powder blow back from the brake. This is the only powder that I have had this experience in this rifle.

VV N170 velocities are getting close to US869, however I have not finished load development. A shipment of VV N570 is coming to Canada circa May, 2011. This powder should be the ticket to velocity with the 300gn bullets.
