My hunting buddy begged me to make him a rifle, here it is. Stevens 200 LA turned into a .338 Lapua mag with early Timberwolf mag and bottom metal. Gaillard barrel, Holland brake, Farrel base, TPS rings, Falcon Menace, Kydex cheekpiece I made, my freehanded bolt knob and a quality custom stock. It shoots good enough to win in F Class [edit - if it were allowed, it shoot informally along with us] with 225 accubonds, he was one point behind me at 600. I had a tattoo artist paint it, his first rifle job. Overall I'm very happy with his paint job but I failed to tell him it was important to paint the rings, sear, trigger and cheekpiece bolts which didn't get the first coat of Ceracoat. I waited forever to get this painted, until I found this guy then it was no problem.

That is totally sick!!! Freakin' awesome!

Way to go man! I love the choice of components. Probably has all those guys that dropped 10 grand on Uber-Lapuas looking kinda silly!

Interesting paint!

What match was he allowed to shoot with a brake?
I wasn't aware that they started to include them.
I love savage rifles, and this one would be a "must have " for any Savage nut's collection!!

Not an F Class comp but with recent loads, an another shooter  , it scored extremely well at different distances against an F Class Open rifle that has won. If it were allowed, the rifle is accurate enough to be at the top of the pack regularly.

Extremely interested especially the photograhy on a glass table. The only thing that would make it more interesting would be on a mirror with the bullets.

B, no plans for instructions how because I DO NOT recommend it and WILL NOT build one for someone else. .338 Edge is a go, no issue at all.
The table was there, looked like a good spot to set it down, never noticed the reflection.
Stockade stock, 1in 10, shouldered and I did all the work except the final air brush.
Mike, PM me for details if you like. Many mods are needed and again I don't recommend it. I believe it is stronger/safer than the current factory Rem 700 Lapua mags but still not safe enough.

This particular rifle has an early Timberwolf bottom metal that needed extensive mods to it and it is epoxied into stock for extra strength for both the mag system and the stock. The 5 round mag is unmodified and removeable, you can see the tab in the lower pic behind the mag. The stock is removed just like any other Savage.
Bolt head trued, sized for the case head, extractor repositioned and modified, lug surface area slightly increased by truing and removing most of the chamfer.
Mag opening custom machined to fit the bottom metal which was custom modified.
Action opened up to 1.120X20tpi, aka Savage large shank
Base screws machined to 8x40
Barrel using UNJ inserts at 20tpi leave maximum amount of metal around chamber possible, more so than most full custom tactical actions made for the Lapua.
Tactical bolt handle and bolt assembly mods make it work better.
Custom recoil lug of course.

The .338 Edge will do everything the Lapua will do except much SAFER. And you can paint it with skulls too :D
