Hi All,

Anyone out there running 300 Sierra Match Kings + Vitha N570 and 300 Berger's + Vitha N570 thru a Savage BA 110 ?

Im running
300 SMK
Lapua Brass
N570 Vitha (91.0gr)
CCI 250Mag
2800fps

I would like to know your data if you got a good load for your gun.

The Powder weight , seating depth and chrono speed ( this is the most important for me)

Why I ask this is cause I'm looking at reloading manuals and the speed they indicate on charge/weight data is very slow for me. For example I'm getting 2800fps with 91gr/SMK and .015 of seat. I have run up to 91.2gr with no pressure signs at all...

Thanks in advance.
Togs.

Hey Toggles,
Check out Lapua's website, I think they have those loads listed in their reload data section.
Berger lists 90.0 gr of N570 as max. (for the 300 elite hunters)

Hi Hawk-I,

I got the manuals. And working up from the 86.5 min they specify. My problem is I get way higher speeds with the same loads thru my chrono. I don't seat my bullet to saami specs and im running 26" barrel (standard BA 110). My seating depth is .015 from touch

That's why I asked if anyone else are running the same combinations with some chrono speeds.

Cheers!

"...thru a Savage BA 110?"..." Makes no difference.
"...a factory Savage will be loaded different than a custom build..." Nonsense.
"...I'm getting 2800fps..." Velocities in manuals reflect the condition on the day of the test only. The manufacturers don't use a rifle for testing. It's usually just a barrel in a universal receiver. However, I suspect you may be reading the chronograph or it's set up incorrectly. Max loads don't get to 2800 fps.

I have gone over 2800 ft/sec and not gone over published loads with 300gr OTM's and Scenars , but with different powder, also still chasing that optimum accuracy demon though.

My Savage FCP loaded with 300 gr Scenar's and the Lapua published maximum load of N570 powder averaged 2806 for 5 shots with my chronograph set up correctly. Happens to be the most accurate load in my rifle too.

For the OP, I was using 0.015" off the lands and then reseated some of the rounds I had loaded to 20, 30 and 35 thou off the lands and after a trip to the range it turned out that my rifle likes 0.020" jump the best by far.

So, would you answer one thing for me.. Do you own a Savage BA 110 and have shot 300gr at max load thru it ?

I presume the answer will be "no" and you have no say in this matter cause I DO get 2800 fps average on OVER 80 rounds on 4 different days and 2 different chrono's, I would say my speed is pretty "confirmed", loaded at 91gr N570 with Sierra Match king. And today I just verify that also the case with Berger 300gr. My average speed is about 80-100fps higher that the manuals.

...thru a Savage BA 110?"..." - Makes no difference. (It actually does... Savage BA 110 has 26" barrel, and barrel length makes a difference.)

...a factory Savage will be loaded different than a custom build..." Nonsense. - Again I beg to differ. Pressure/speed relation will be affected by bullet seating depth, barrel length and a lot more.

I suspect you may be reading the chronograph or it's set up incorrectly. Max loads don't get to 2800 fps. - I don't think so (just my opinion)

Where is your proof that max loads don't get 2800fps in a Savage BA 110 ?

Man I hate NON - constructive criticism...
