.338 Lapua on a Remington 700?

There's a couple of guys here who have done it, and a few more who say you never should (bolt diameter issues). Rem supposedly is building their own, but they've been saying that for a while now. What what you like to know? - dan

I want a .338 Lapua without having to go the custom action route. I have a Remington action that I would like to use. Just starting to do some homework on this.

you will have to open the bolt face/ install a sako extractor. also make a plate and it becomes a single shot, as i didnt want to open up the feed rails for strength anyways.all in all it turned out very well. i used a 30" RKS bbl, and am very happy with it

Anyone ever build a 338 Lapua on a Remington Action?

This one has been beaten to death, in general it is considered that the Factory M700 should not be converted into a 338 Lapua even though some have done it, the bolt diameter is not of sufficient diameter. Remington would have done it a long time ago with the 378 WBY and 416 Rigby based cartridges.

If you are dead set on building the 338 Lapua get yourself a Stiller Predator, they have one available for about the same money as a Rem 700 and it is all set up for the Lapua and they are available in Canada.

i dont think i would do it again, but i built mine way back, when it was just about the only way, without spending a ton of money. if i was to build one now, id go with a TRG action i think
