Product availability and sponsorship play a huge part on why those stats are the way they are.....

Sponsorship does play are part to a certain extent but the top shooters are a competitive bunch and if even if they were given a scope or any other piece of equipment if it was a pos they would rather pay for their own. I agree with Marcoman as well and had a chuckle when Jerry mentioned Sightron as a top tier scope in the same class as a S&B, TT. I know he sells them but given me a break.

Very surprised to see the drop in S&B which I thought would be the benchmark.

Pity all the fuss and bother of the new Steiners and they aren't catching on

But I know you are poking at Sightron and that is a legitimate beef of mine. Been bugging them for a couple of years to get off their butts and take PRS seriously. So far, they are concerned about their largest markets which include varminter/hunters, LR shooters and competitors and surprisingly, markets in Europe and Australia.

The response from Field Air Rifle Target competition has been very strong and driven a number of new products. Something we do very little if any in NA.

They never talk about future products which is kind of silly but that is them.

So I keep bugging them and maybe, they will listen????

Or maybe they are seeing sales volume in an entirely different way.....

Test what you have... use what you like.

No brand is immune to QC oops along the way. Assume you have checked your scope through its entire travel? Remember to use both elevation and windage to push into the corners of the scope. If you are happy with the performance, AWESOME.

For 1200yds with common chamberings and bullets used in PRS, that is not a lot of elevation travel.

Let's see... customer lent the scope, brand new in the box, to me to view. Gave it back with my thoughts and he viewed and was disappointed... not sure if he shared it with any of his friends.

Scope was returned to dealer who likely also inspected it. At least, I would if someone just returned a $3400 scope... not sure how many viewed it at the store but a credit was promptly offered.

Customer used that to buy a NF... Scope was installed on his project rifle and he has reported being happy with the entire set up.

So, it seems more then just my eyes saw the issue. But maybe all of us have eyeball issues too????

No idea what became of that scope. Likely it was returned to Vortex for fixing/exchange.

With the present exchange rate, they are dearer than $3400 now :( I paid ~$3700+ tax. The NF was a few hundred cheaper but Patrice recommended the Vortex over the NF.
 
$300 more... someone is helping with the dollar. Most everything I am seeing has bumped 20% or more... SUCKS...

As long as the optics hold up, you have a scope catered to the tactical format vs the square range designs. Go run it hard and I am sure you will be plenty happy.

I am waiting not so patiently for my TT to mount on my rig.

Yeah, if we use the Optics Planet price of $2500, and the date that I ordered it, which was around the end of January, the Exchange rate was around the $0.68 mark, which puts the price at $3,650CDN. It would have been wise for me to wait it out seeing what it is at now in comparison. Would have saved me several hundred.

^^^This. Top shooters will use a sponsored product if if they don't see any disadvantage in using it. If they think it will put them at a disadvantage, or if they think something else gives them a competitive advantage, they will use that even if it means paying for it themselves.

Also, if someone is really good, they are going to be offered sponsorship from multiple manufacturers. They can choose who's scope they want to run based on preference. So, preference is still being reflected in the stats in spite of sponsorship.
 
I put the Tangent Theta up against a Nightforce ATACR F2 for three hours today. I know it's not really a fair comparison but thought I'd share what I saw.

The TT won in every department but elevation adjustment range. The Nightforce has a crazy 120moa of vertical adjustment or something, versus the TT's 103moa. In terms of picture, the Nightforce had a disappointing yellowish hue. The TT was whiter and brighter. The resolution of the TT was resoundingly better as was its clarity and contrast. It seemed to have depth of field that the Nightforce didn't. The fine details were so easily seen in the TT. Looking at a traffic sign some distance away, the reflective honeycomb pattern really stood out with the TT whereas it didn't for the NF. Tree branches were alive in the TT whereas in the NF they were dull and lifeless.

The turrets of the TT blew away the NF in feel and zero-stop simplicity. The precision of the turret clicks made my friend and I both grin. We have never felt a better turret. March and S&B have nice turrets but the TT is perfect. The NF felt downright mushy in comparison.

Field-of-view was similar between the two. Finding parallax settings was easier with the TT, it just got there quickly and needed no fine hunting to get the perfect focus. The NF parallax seemed a little off in comparison, maybe due to me expecting to find the clarity of the Tangent Theta. It was harder to find the sweet spot.

Looking through the Nightforce was like, well, looking through a scope. The Tangent Theta was like being there, right up close. The picture is just so real in this scope. The more time I spend with it, the more I appreciate its virtues.

Putting it up against the March, Premier, S&B and now Nightforce confirms what I had hoped for after spending this kind of money. This scope is for real.

I remember the first time I tried on a pair of Swarovski binoculars. The Tangent Theta gives me that feeling again.
 
This is all very cute but the S&B 5-25 was the one used in the world record slotting and is more badass than the new kids on the block.

Meh, I prefered the TT over SB. On turrets alone, the picture was almost indiscernible. If it wasn't for different reticles I could barely tell the difference. The SB has a bit more of a neutral white, while the TT is bright white. I really really like the lifetime warranty and made in canada.
